1979 nissan l20b 2.0l - 3-28-10
This is the engine that came out of a datsun 510 truck. it has a 4 speed transmission. this is the new powerplant for the oliver oc-3.
Driveline - 3-31-10
I used the ujoint and yoke from the transmission and turned the drive line tube off. I then used the splined yoke from the dozer. Machined it to mate with the new yoke and welded it together on the lathe. It runs within .005 runnout. Perfect for a slow dozer.
4-11-10
During the fitting process to make sure nothing would get in the way.
Motor Mount - 4-11-10
Right side motor mount.
Motor mount - 4-11-10
Left side motor mount. I had to move the motor up on this side a 1/4 inch. so until i make a proper spacer i have two washers in there.
Transmission mount
6" x 3/8 inch thick angle cut one inch high. with a slot in the middle for the tranny mount.
Driveline - 4-11-10
Picture of the drive line after i dropped the motor in.
Frame extension - 4-11-10
The new motor and transmission is so long that i had to extend the frame to support the radiator. this only gives me 3 inches clearance to the pivot point of the front bucket.
Front view - 4-11-10
front view of the motor in place and the extension done.
master cylinder - 4-13-10
made and installed the bracket to install the master cylinder from the datsun. using the same clutch pedal the oc3 came with.
hydraulic pump - 4-13-10
new dynamic hydraulic pump mounted. rated at 15 gpm at 2500 psi at 2000 rpm. bottom mount done. have to design top adjustable mount.
Radiator - 4-13-10
Radiator installed. new 14" electric fan on order.
Side view - 4-13-10
side view showes what clearances i have to work with for the radiator hoses.
radiator close up - 4-13-10
close view of the top radiator hose. will make an adapter to line them up.
Hydralic pump mounted - 4-20-10
pic of the hydraulic pump after is was mounted permanently.
Alternator - 4-20-10
Picture of the new 60 amp alternator mounted with custom brackets. Internally regulated two wire hookup. too easy!
Muffler - 4-27-10
muffler mounted. note the heat shield behind it to protect the new gas tank.
wiring - 4-27-10
first run on wiring this side. will clean up with wire loom later.
Gas tank and mount - 4-27-10
Whats easier to replace than a 5 gallon gas can? I made a insert to replace the nozzle. fuel supply, fuel return, and a breather line. can sets in a steel tub so i can easily replace the can with a full one. can doesnt move at all!
trial run - 4-27-10
picture with the bucket up after the trial run.
Nose clearance - 4-27-10
i have one inch each side of the motor and 2 inches in the front. bottom corners come within half inch and will need clearanced more.
Almost done 5-4-10
So far so good. picture of the mechanics complete. next is radiator guard and tin.
